How much do you know about BOTOX? Even though it’s the world’s most popular cosmetic treatment, several myths persist about the anti-wrinkle treatment that was first approved for cosmetic use more than 20 years ago. We’ve developed a quiz that tests your knowledge and includes information you may find surprising.

Before you start the quiz, we’ll answer the question posed in this blog post’s headline: BOTOX is not harmful to you. As with all cosmetic treatments, BOTOX injections include some common side effects and much rarer complications. A 2021 review of complications associated with cosmetic BOTOX and similar drugs found that the overall majority of adverse events identified are mild and temporary.

Our quiz addresses several issues related to BOTOX treatments, including if BOTOX has long-term aftereffects, how long BOTOX takes to work, how long the results last, and if there is such a thing as BOTOX resistance.

Alternatives to BOTOX

BOTOX is not the only neuromodulator used for treating wrinkles and fine lines. In addition to BOTOX, Dysport®, XEOMIN®, and DAXXIFY®—offer remarkable results in wrinkle reduction. Neuromodulators are primarily used to relax the muscles responsible for wrinkles, specifically expression lines like crow’s feet and frown lines. DAXXIFY is the most recent option to become available; it’s an exciting new option because its results last months longer than BOTOX and the other alternatives. You can learn more about how these options compare in a previous blog post.

After taking the quiz, you can request a consultation with one of our providers by using the online form or by calling our practice at (202) 393-7546.
