Shed Fat, Build Muscle, and Tighten Loose Skin: Nonsurgical Body Contouring Explained

It’s a discouraging fact: No matter how dedicated you are to a healthy lifestyle, diet and exercise alone aren’t always enough to achieve the lean and sculpted body you desire. Fat deposits can cling stubbornly to specific areas despite your best efforts. But nonsurgical body contouring—treatments that require no downtime—can help you finally achieve your goals.

At MI Skin Dermatology Center, we offer 3 innovative, effective treatments to help you achieve your desired physique without surgery: CoolSculpting®, Lutronic Accufit™, and Exilis Ultra™.

Does Nonsurgical Body Contouring Work?

The short answer is yes. Our nonsurgical treatments have been clinically proven to deliver specific body contouring improvements. Patients who’ve undergone these treatments have seen significant reductions in stubborn fat deposits and improvements in shape, definition, and skin laxity.

And unlike surgical procedures, these treatments are noninvasive, meaning there is no downtime and minimal discomfort. While individual results vary, many patients notice a reduction in fat, increased muscle tone, or improved skin tightness after just one treatment session. A series of treatments typically provide the best results.

What Does Body Contouring Do?

Body contouring treatments employ different technologies to improve the physique. For example:

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is a noninvasive fat reduction treatment using controlled cooling to freeze and destroy fat cells. During treatment, one of several specially designed applicators is placed on the targeted area, which delivers controlled cooling to the fat cells. The fat cells freeze and crystallize, eventually dying off and being naturally eliminated from the body.

The treatment is comfortable, and you can relax, read, or even nap during the session. To speed up the process, we offer DualSculpting™ to treat 2 areas at once. Many patients treat the same area twice to achieve their desired results.

Lutronic Accufit

Accufit is a safe electrical stimulation device that stimulates muscle contractions, which in turn, helps to build muscle. This painless treatment targets specific muscle groups, such as the abdomen, buttocks, or thighs, to tone and sculpt the body.

During the treatment, electrodes are placed on the target area, delivering computer-controlled energy to the muscles. This energy causes the muscles to contract, twist, and stretch as they would during a multi-dimensional workout, which helps build muscle and burn fat. We recommend a series of six 30-minute treatment sessions spaced at least 24 hours apart for optimal results.

Exilis Ultra

Exilis Ultra employs radiofrequency and ultrasound energy to tighten the skin in the treated area while heating and destroying fat cells and improving the appearance of cellulite.

Radiofrequency and ultrasound energy are delivered to the treatment area during treatment, stimulating collagen production, which helps tighten and firm the skin. At the same time, the heat energy causes fat cells to die off and be naturally eliminated from the body.

Most patients experience the best results with 4 to 6 treatment sessions, depending on the amount of skin laxity.

How Long Does Body Contouring Last?

Body contouring results can be long-lasting. While treated fat cells are permanently destroyed, your remaining fat cells can still grow. To preserve your results, a healthy diet and regular exercise are essential.

We offer maintenance packages to help Accufit patients maintain the muscle gains achieved during the initial 6 sessions.

What Are the Benefits of Combining Treatments?

Since each treatment creates different improvements, combining CoolSculpting, Accufit, and Exilis Ultra can help patients at or near their goal weight achieve a comprehensive body makeover.

CoolSculpting is highly effective in reducing stubborn fat in specific areas, while Accufit is excellent for toning and building muscle. Exilis Ultra not only tightens the skin but also reduces fat in the treated area.

To illustrate, patients who undergo CoolSculpting may notice a reduction in fat but may not see a significant improvement in muscle tone or skin laxity. Adding Accufit to the treatment plan can tone and build muscle, creating a more sculpted appearance. Exilis Ultra can further enhance the result by tightening skin and reducing any remaining fat in the treated area.

By combining these treatments, we can tailor a customized treatment plan to address your specific concerns. This approach can lead to more significant and longer-lasting results.
