What Is the Best Skin Tightening Treatment for You?

Several effective skin tightening treatments are currently available to make your skin smoother and firmer. Weight fluctuations, sun damage, and the natural aging process influenced by genetics can cause the skin to lose its elasticity, leading to sagging or drooping.

Although skincare products containing collagen or retinol may give a slight appearance of improvement, they don’t offer significant, impactful results. For truly effective results without surgery, energy-based treatments usually offer the best options. These skin tightening treatments vary widely in intensity, technology, and how deeply they penetrate the skin. Comparing the top treatment options is an excellent place to start your research. Energy-based devices, biostimulatory agents, and dermal fillers are so effective they are often combined with surgery.

Ultherapy®

One of the best-known skin tightening treatments, Ultherapy uses ultrasound waves to penetrate the deep layers of the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. Elevated collagen and elastin production firms and tightens the skin, minimizing facial lines and making skin appear more supple and resilient.

What Are the Benefits of Ultherapy?

Ultherapy can improve age-related damage for firmer and more youthful-looking skin.

Improve Fine Lines and Wrinkles

As you grow older, your body’s supply of collagen and elastin decreases. As a result, your once-healthy and pliant skin starts losing strength and develops fine lines and wrinkles. Ultherapy stimulates collagen production much more effectively than collagen-based supplements or lotions.

Whether you have fine lines like crow’s feet and horizontal forehead wrinkles or deeper creases such as laugh lines and marionette lines, Ultherapy is an excellent solution.

Build Firmer Skin

Ultherapy treatment stimulates collagen and elastic production by penetrating the skin’s deeper layers, strengthening the skin’s structure. Firmer skin can give you a more lifted and contoured profile. Results are especially dramatic along the jawline, where skin and fat accumulate as you age. Although several nonsurgical skin tightening treatments are available, they can’t penetrate the deeper layers of skin tissue like Ultherapy.

What Areas Can You Improve With Ultherapy?

This skin tightening treatment is FDA-cleared to use in the following areas:

  • Neck
  • Face
  • Decollétage
  • Around the eyebrows
  • Under the chin

Ultherapy can be paired with other nonsurgical treatments, such as BOTOX® or dermal fillers, including Radiesse® and Sculptra® Aesthetic to improve dynamic wrinkles, elasticity, and volume loss. Another popular combination is Ultherapy and CoolSculpting® for jawline definition and reduction of the dreaded double chin.

Exilis Ultra™

This nonsurgical treatment combines ultrasound and radiofrequency (RF) energy to contour and tighten the skin on the face and body. Exilis Ultra is a versatile option, improving stubborn fat, cellulite, and lax skin to create firmer, smoother skin. While it’s not intended to address severe skin laxity, Exilis Ultra is effective for those who are just beginning to see some sagginess and fat deposits in areas such as the jawline and under the chin.

You can treat any area of your face and body with Exilis Ultra. Some commonly treated areas are:

  • Face
  • Neck

Are You a Good Candidate for Exilis Ultra?

You are a good candidate for this treatment if you have cellulite, wrinkles, or mild to moderate skin laxity. If you have severe skin laxity and require dramatic skin lifting and removal, surgery is usually a better option. Many people choose Exilis Ultra as a preventative measure against future surgery.

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications, talk to your provider to see if you are a good candidate for this treatment.

Genius® RF Skin Tightening

Effective for most skin types and skin concerns, Genius RF is an FDA-cleared skin tightening treatment that combines RF energy and microneedling. It creates micro-injuries in the skin with fine needles to stimulate the body’s natural healing response for healthier, more resilient skin. While making those micro-injuries, the device’s tiny needles simultaneously deliver RF energy to the deeper layers of the skin, further promoting collagen production and remodelling the skin’s structure.

How Does Genius RF Improve Your Skin?

This treatment offers many skin benefits, including:

  • Improving skin elasticity
  • Erasing fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tightening and firming skin tissues

How To Prepare for Your Skin Tightening Treatment

Your provider will give you specific instructions on preparing your skin before your treatment so you can have a smooth recovery and optimal results. In general, though, you will likely need to do the following:

Review Medications and Supplements

Certain medications, such as aspirin or herbal supplements, can thin your blood and cause bruising after treatment. Be sure to check with your physician before ceasing any medicines. If you have a history of fever blisters or cold sores, remember to tell your provider.

Thoroughly Cleanse Your Skin

On the day of the treatment, remove any makeup or skincare products from the targeted areas to avoid irritation.

Protect Your Skin From the Sun

Stay away from the sun for at least 2 weeks pre-procedure, if possible, and don’t use a tanning bed. Tanned skin can be slow to heal, and UV exposure can increase the potential for scarring and hyperpigmentation.

Skin tightening treatments have many benefits, but it’s important to find the treatment that targets your skin concerns. Request a consultation or call us at (202) 393-7546 to schedule an appointment so we can help you find the right treatment to achieve your skin goals.
